Dear Friends,

I do not have much to report on the health front. I seem to be getting better, but so incrementally that a Walt Disney time-lapse movie would be more convincing. I have a sharp pain in my back when I sit, lie, or move a certain way. I will be seeing my surgeon to discuss this soon. I am doing tours at the Cantor Arts Center from a wheelchair as I cannot stand for one hour. I do get up to talk about chosen works of art. The audience must think that I am being cured for about 5 minutes at a time.

Jim and Vicky just returned from a trip to India. They were in no danger as they left the day before the trouble began. What an awful attack that was in Mumbai.

I hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Meg and I certainly did. We celebrated with Helen and David and their family in Oakland. What great cooks they are!

I still see friends often. Friends are food for my soul. About 3 times a year I get together with favorite female faculty members from my department at San Francisco State University. Here is a photo of one of these women (Vera) and me at Sutro's (nice restaurant at the Cliff House) at our most recent gathering.

After all of these years I am hearing from long-time college friends....the wonder of e-mail. I often get together with my former roomate, Cilla, as her son and family live in Palo Alto. We reviewed the recent correspondence and reminised.

And it is always fun when Meg's friends return for holidays. Here we are with Barbara and her terrific daughters.

Meg and I are so excited about meeting Kate and her family in New Zealand. We are renting a house in Nelson on the south island for the Christmas/New Year's holidays. Here is Kate and her family on their dairy farm house in Australia. I couldn't resist including a precious picture of Keela. Grandmothers are like that.

Wallaby is our wonderful cat. He likes to lick the Wallaby yoghurt cups.

Meg was a bridesmaid in a wedding yesterday. Wow!

That is all of my bragging for now.

Happy holidays,
Diane
