Dear Friends,

As most of you know, I am scheduled for another back surgery on July 24. Meg and I met with the doctor today and we both feel good about him. He is very thorough in his explanations and has consulted with other doctors about my surgery. He will remove the metal rods that are protruding from my back and replace them with thinner rods that follow the contour of my back. I certainly hate to have more surgery, but I am looking forward to less pain and more mobility.

In the meantime, Kate and her family are here. She has extended her stay until mid-August so that she can help after surgery. I am blessed to have two wonderful daughters. And the granddaughters, you ask? They are fabulous indeed.

Here is Keela being held by one of Meg's students.

And pipe cleaners were never so much fun as they were with Olive.

More trips to Filoli. Thank you Michael. The flowers are amazing.

My college friends, Harry and Evy, visited recently. Here I am with Evy.

We went to the Frank Lloyd Wright house on the Stanford campus (Hanna House) and Harry took these nice photos.

That's it for now. I am off to New Mexico tomorrow to visit with my long-time friends from Texas. We are going to stay in Taos for a few days. This will nourish my soul.

Love to you all,
Diane
