A friend in kneed

Mom has a new left knee. It will be up and walking with her tomorrow we hope. She had a fine surgery. A peri-operative arterial fibrulation (post surgery heart funkery) had the cardiologist in to check on her, but things seem to be ok.
Every new doctor that looks at her health record gets to see something the previous one did not. "Oh, you've had a bone marrow transplant." "Oh, wow! That's a big scar on your back." "Tell me more about the fungal infection." It's a bit like baseball card "collect-them-all"; only wish you could trade up.
This surgery was by far the easiest, lasting only 45 minutes. The anesthesia wore off pretty quickly. The pain killers, however, are going strong. I'll leave you with the same quote my mom left me with this evening:

"Maybe you can go in the hallway, and then you can trip (at which point my mom gesticulated something not matching tripping at all) and a frog can catch you. And then you'll say 'it's a frog'." Nice mom, nice. Just keep pressing the button and I will see you tomorrow.

Hi Meg-

So glad to hear your Mom is doing well and entertaining us all with her vivid imagination!

I'm with you both every step of the way and hoping
that knee wizard worked his magic!

Give her my love and hugs to you for all you've done and continue to do!

Great news, great reporting -- remember to be kind to folks on drugs; they know not what they do. So glad everything is progressing as it should. Hugs all around and see you Friday! XO Araby

Three cheers once again for both Diane and Meg. And maybe her surgeons to. Lots of three-cheering. Hugs, Bruce

Meg - I really think that you have the makings of a book here. What I mean is going all the way back to the start of "Diane copes" the blog and telling the story. It's incredibly heartwarming but especially encouraging to anyone who has had to face scary medical situations (a redundancy). Your mom is a real fighter and you are her guardian angel.

Love to you both.

Michael

Meg, once again, thanks for keeping us "in the loop." Your mom has a sense of humor both on & off drugs. (Why am I not surprised?)

Here's hoping that she won't require any more surgeries or have any new medical problems for a long, long time. You both deserve a break from hospitals.

Please tell Diane that she's wished a speedy recovery from her friend Kathleen.

Thank you, Meg, for giving us the information that we all crave. Michael, thank you for the suggestion to Meg. Meg, you are a gifted writer, as is your mother. Reading the blog has given us all laughter, inspiration, tears, hope -- the makings of a book that needs to be written. We love you, and we love your mother. Sara

How did yesterday's visit with the doc go? Are you progressing as well as he hoped (even if *you* want things to move faster!)?
