Dear Friends,
I am off for an exciting trip. I'll spend a week in North Carolina at a writing workshop. Next I'll fly to Florida to visit 3 of my former college roommates each of whom has a winter home there. Two are on the west coast and one is on the east coast. Finding them will be an exciting challenge. Visiting with them will be wonderful. My last stop is South Carolina where I'll visit a college suite-mate.

My mother was passionate about genealogy. I was bored with it. In cleaning up my desk I found a card with a portion of my family tree. Long story short, it turns out that my college suite-mate shares some of the same relatives and has written about them. We now refer to each other as "cousin," Next thing you know, I'll be at the reunion for long-lost kin.

Health-wise I am doing well. I'd say that I was about 85% toward normal. My new knee is fabulous. I'm still working on climbing stairs and increasing stamina, but I'll get there. Yeah!

Filoli is spectacular with daffodils and tulips. Here is Michael's photo of the house with a field of daffodils in front.

Meg is teaching 6th grade this year. She thought that the students were easier to manage in 5th grade, but she is still dedicated to her job. A couple of months ago one of the local papers wrote an article about charter schools in low-income areas. The paper included this shot of Meg in her classroom.

Meg and I had a "singles" event on Saturday morning. I have been collecting socks that come out of the dryer with a missing mate. I emptied all of the socks on the bed and we looked for pairs. When we found a pair, we shouted "match dot com." We found so many that our sock drawers are overflowing. How's that for excitement!

Everyone in Australia is fine. Keela has had successful kidney surgery and is doing well. Sorry I don't have new photos.

Wishing you all well.
Love,
Diane
P.S. I am receiving Spam on "Comments." I don't know how to get rid of it. Just ignore.

Diane, loved the pictures, especially the one of Meg & cat. Miss Kitty bought me a mouse last week--my first "present." Today she is trying to catch a bird, but having no luck.

I am so glad that your health continues to improve! Your trip sounds fabulous. Please regale us with the details when you return.

Did I know that Keely was having surgery? I am glad that it was successful!

Take care, dear friend.

Love, Kathleen
