Dear Friends,
I see that I have been quite delinquent in updating my blog. I have been busy and have a few photos to share. First, my health. I am doing well. I still have issues with stamina and low energy. I signed up with a fitness trainer and have seen her a few times. We are taking baby steps, but I do seem to be making some progress. My latest marathon: yesterday I walked 3 blocks and back in downtown Los Altos and stopped to rest only 3 times. No awards, but it is an improvement.

In August, I went to Texas for my 50th high school reunion. This was a bitter/sweet event. Some of my friends have died. Others are the walking-wounded. The rest are fine, given our ages. An interviewer asked Woody Allen, "What's good about aging?" Woody's response, "Nothing." Oh well. I am alive. That's good! I do not have photos from the reunion yet. Are you saying, "Thank goodness?" After the reunion I visited my sister and her family. I am always glad to spend some time with them. I am trying to join the Huguenot Society and my mother's genealogy records are at her house. I was busy going through piles of loosely organized materials, but did find several documents to prove that some of my ancestors escaped France in the 1700's and eventually settled in Virginia. I still have to put all of this together before I send it to the committee that makes the decisions.

My next big event was the wedding of my goddaughter Liana and Will and all of the events surrounding the wedding. The big event was at the Fort Mason Officer's Club in San Francisco. The ceremony was outside and the reception was inside. San Francisco's climate is tricky but the wedding was beautiful with perfect weather. Liana was a gorgeous bride. Meg did a reading as part of the ceremony. Here are some photos.

Meg and I took a red-eye to Australia the night of the wedding. I really hate flying for 14 or more hours all cramped up in economy class, but I am not willing to pay for an upgrade so I should stop bitching. Seeing Kate and the darling granddaughters is a great joy. Kate and Murray are such good parents. Olive and Keela are well adjusted and know how much they are loved. Kate is 5 months pregnant with her third child. She has chosen not to know its sex. The baby to be is lucky to be part of her family, living on the farm with cousins and Grandma Anne close by. Meg and I joined Kate when it was her day to help out at Olive's pre-kindergarten. What a lucky day to be there. Wild Action Animal Zoo came to introduce the children to many Australian animals. I had never seen so many exotic creatures. Grandma Anne and I had a little get-away to the gold country of Victoria. We saw lots of interesting historic spots, a lovely lavender farm, and enjoyed fine cuisine. Dairy products, produce and meat are excellent in Australia. New chefs are pouring in to make the most of these fine ingredients.

That's about it for now. Wishing you all good health.
Love,
Diane
