You are expecting photos from Vietnam? Sorry. We postponed the trip. I caught a nasty virus beforehand. Meg and I decided that we should go to plan B and not risk my getting worse on a trip to Southeast Asia. I was so disappointed that I "took to bed" for an entire day. I snapped back the next day and we designed a very nice alternative trip. I was coughing and had a runny nose for 3+ weeks so our decision to stay state-side seems wise.
We drove to L.A. and spent a few days there enjoying the Getty Museum, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Walt Disney Theater Center. We had delicious meals and enjoyed massages at a Russian Spa. One of our special meals was breakfast at the Chateau Marmont where the stars are supposed to cluster. If they were clustering, they were doing so rather invisibly.
Here I am holding part of an art work at a restaurant.
Meg is the star at Chateau Marmont.
The Walt Disney Theater Center was designed by Frank Gehry. The design is dazzling. Here is the back of the main stage. The acoustics are supposed to be wonderful.
We drove from Los Angeles to Scottsdale. I wanted to see Taliesin West, Frank Lloyd Wright's home, studio and center for training new architects. As usual, FLW surprises us with innovative, forward thinking designs. He incorporated the environment into the place. You know you are not in Spring Green, Wisconsin where he built his first Taliesin (Welsh for "shining brow").
Our last stop was in Tucson where we luxuriated at the Miraval SPA. We had facials, massages, wraps, scalp treatments, you name it. Everyday guests are welcome to participate in classes or attend lectures. I attended several lectures on nutrition, menopause, communication and sex (as if!), and emotions. Meg went to more active events such as dance class and Tai Chi. I participated in low key classes on breathing and meditation. The food at Miraval was delicious...so important for this foodie. The staff was friendly and helpful. I loved the place. The landscaping is beautiful with many water features.
I say goodbye with a full relaxed breath and a great attitude.
Love,
Diane
